Small Actions, Big Wins
31Dec
Imagine saving all of your money for the entire year, then splurging on something huge on January 1, only to have nothing for the remaining 364 days.
New Year’s resolutions feel so much like this. Armed with a big TO DO list, we go into the New Year wanting to do this and that, and then, a short while later, we’ve lost our steam and it’s back to the ordinary routine.
This is why, small actions are so effective, and can lead to long-lasting results. Taking small, focused steps towards our goals serve as inspiration versus overwhelm, and along the way, we can tweak our behaviors to achieve even greater results.
So here’s the challenge: pick a goal, any goal, and write a list of five small steps you can take towards achieving it. Then, once you’ve taken action on these steps — stop, and review your progress. Perhaps you’ve achieved your goal — CONGRATULATIONS! But maybe there’s more work (or play!) to be done to achieve your desired outcome.
Since you’re reading this blog on Dolphin Project’s website, we will assume you have an interest in dolphin welfare and conservation.
What issues affecting dolphins most moves you?
- Bringing awareness to the plight of dolphins in captivity? — Question: Is there an aquarium in your community that keeps live dolphins for entertainment? Perhaps you’d like to organize an Empty the Tanks Event in your area. (Please follow our social media for information on our 2025 event.)
- Keeping debris (including balloons) out of our waterways? — Question: Is there a specific waterway where you’ve noticed an accumulation of trash? Hosting a Global Beach Cleanup event (more information on our 2025 event will be posted onto our social media) or even a weekly or monthly cleanup are great ways to bring awareness to this problem.
- Educating our youth on the importance of marine habitat conservation? — Question: Do you know any teachers who might be interested in sharing our Study Guides with their students? Reaching out to educators is a great way to help share information!

Whatever your interest, you’ve come to the right place. Together, let’s help make 2025 a positive and fulfilling year for all.
Happy New Year from Team Dolphin Project!
